How to use URL Encoder / Decoder
- Enter your own input or try the example above.
- Choose the mode that matches your task. Results update as you edit; random generators run only when you choose Generate.
- Review the result, then copy or download it. Closing this tab discards the input.
Encode a component, not a whole address
The encoder uses encodeURIComponent. Separators such as /, ?, & and = are escaped. Apply it to an individual query value or path segment, not to an entire URL you want to navigate.
Plus has two meanings
In form-encoded query strings, + means a space; in ordinary URI components it is a literal plus. Enable the form-mode checkbox only when decoding application/x-www-form-urlencoded input.
Malformed input is reported
An incomplete percent escape or invalid UTF-8 sequence produces an error instead of a partial result. Encoding is reversible representation, not encryption or secrecy.
