Glaze Matrix

Test the order, not your memory. Build a base → top glaze matrix, label each physical tile, then connect the fired result to the exact test.

1. Define one controlled test batch

Keep this project

Work stays in this tab. Download a project file to keep it; opening a new tab does not restore your inputs automatically. Import replaces the current project.

Ready.

Why glaze order matters

A base of A with B on top is a different test from B with A on top. With three glazes, same-glaze controls and one replicate, this planner produces nine labelled tests. Excluding controls produces six.

Keep the physical tile connected to its record

  1. Use a batch ID, exact glaze names, coat counts, clay and firing description.
  2. Record the generated ID on each physical tile using your studio’s established method. Print the worksheet before glazing.
  3. After firing, select a tile, enter your observation and export the project JSON. The CSV is convenient for a spreadsheet; JSON reopens the editable project.

IDs depend on the test parameters. Reordering unchanged glaze names keeps their IDs; changing the clay, firing or coat count creates different tests. Use a new batch ID for a new physical batch.

A record, not a compatibility prediction

The illustrated tiles are an index, not predicted fired colours. This tool does not determine firing schedules, glaze compatibility, food safety or kiln safety. Follow supplier information and your studio’s procedures. Glaze names and outcomes come from you; no manufacturer dataset is bundled.

Processing, rights and freshness

Calculations and file processing run on this device. Input is not sent to an API or stored by this workspace. Exported files may contain what you entered; share them deliberately. Use data and recordings you have the right to use.

Methods and limits were reviewed for this release on 20 October 2026. No live prices, species databases, manufacturer compatibility data or commercial game lists need refreshing. Your source records and physical measurements remain your responsibility.
