Version 4, random by design
A UUID v4 has 122 random bits; the remaining bits identify its version and variant. It is useful for independent identifiers without a central counter.
An ID is not access control
UUIDs identify objects. They do not establish ownership, replace permission checks or make a public resource private. A password or session token has different requirements.
Local generation
This tool requires a secure context and crypto.getRandomValues. It fails visibly if cryptographic randomness is unavailable rather than substituting Math.random.
