Pixels per inch describes the image
Print width in inches = pixel width ÷ PPI. PPI is image sampling density; a printer’s DPI describes ink dots and is a different quantity.
Resolution is a viewing-distance choice
300 PPI is a common close-view planning target, not a universal quality threshold. Large posters seen from farther away can use less. Sharpness, compression and the source image matter too.
Do not forget crop and bleed
These results describe the image area, not printer margins or bleed. Ask the print provider for its required dimensions and color workflow; prepare extra pixels for any bleed.
