How to use Color Contrast Checker

  1. Enter your own input or try the example above.
  2. Choose the mode that matches your task. Results update as you edit; random generators run only when you choose Generate.
  3. Review the result, then copy or download it. Closing this tab discards the input.

Two solid sRGB colors

Enter #RGB or #RRGGBB. The ratio uses WCAG relative luminance and ranges from 1:1 to 21:1. Alpha transparency, images and gradients need evaluation against the actual composited background.

Thresholds depend on text size

WCAG AA requires 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text. AAA requires 7:1 and 4.5:1 respectively. Large means at least 18 pt regular or 14 pt bold, roughly 24 or 18.67 CSS pixels.

One check, not a complete accessibility audit

Contrast alone does not verify keyboard access, screen-reader structure, focus, touch targets or readability. Do not round a failing ratio up to pass a threshold.
